Attendance Improvement Mediation Program
Richland School District Two
- Schools – 6 Elementary, 2 Middle, 2 High
- Funded by the United Way
School District Five of Lexington/Richland Counties
- Schools – 6 Elementary, 1 High
- Funded by the Department of Education Dropout and Truancy Prevention
grant
Mediated/Conciliated over 250 cases during the 2006-2007
school year with an 83% improvement in attendance post mediation.
CMC maintains a roster of over 20 volunteer mediators for this program.
City Court/Community Program
- Funded by the SC Bar Foundation
- Provide mediation services for Lexington/Richland Magistrate
cases slated for jury trial based on the order signed by the SC
Chief Justice Jean Toal.
- Provide continued outreach for referrals and mediation services
to local police and sheriff department, crisis hotlines, social
service organizations and government.
CMC has handled over 50 community mediations with
referrals from the over listed organizations. Starting March 1,
2007, CMC has worked with the Magistrate Court to mediate 19
cases in Richland County and 11 cases in Lexington County. CMC
maintains a roster of over 35 volunteer mediators for this program.
Training Program
- Provide Conflict Resolution skill building, mediation training to
youth and adults.
- Funded through fees for service and SC Bar Foundation (Conflict
Coaching).
Provided trained for over 230 individuals during 25 different sessions.
Started a new program called “Conflict Coaching” in
April where individuals participating in the Solicitor’s Pre-Trial
Intervention program take part in workshops at CMC.
